Dr Ibrahim is a respiratory, sleep and general physician; who also trained fully in intensive care medicine. He undertook most of his training at the Austin Hospital, and he holds a public appointment at the Austin Hospital as a respiratory and sleep physician including the Victorian Respiratory Support Services (VRSS); the main centre for chronic ventilation in Victoria. He also works at Maroondah Hospital as a respiratory, sleep and general physician.

Dr Ibrahim is an honorary lecturer at Melbourne University, and is heavily involved in undergraduate teaching. His areas of interest include chronic non-invasive ventilation; in which he is conducting research as part of his MD degree.

He currently holds the position as the medical director of the Mitcham Hospital Sleep Laboratory. He is a member of the medical advisory committee for both Mitcham and Knox Private Hospitals. He is trained and experienced in the management of complex sleep disorders, including reporting of bi-level ventilation sleep studies.

He has admitting rights to Mitcham, Knox and Epworth Eastern Hospitals and is happy to provide inpatient care at these hospitals. He also provides a regular bronchoscopy service at Mitcham Private Hospital and the other hospitals if required.

Other special skills include adult resuscitation and peri-operative medicine; which he acquired through his intensive care and anaesthesia training.
